Not sure what had the coyotes riled up last night, did they kill a deer? Where do the deer sleep out there, when the temperatures fall? Under a tree? Are there coyote dens in the little rock forts where we explore? Last night they woke us up, so much chattering. They were out there again this morning, when the sun balled up over the ridge. I don’t know I’ve ever seen a ball of sun so big and bright, like someone just propelled it towards us from down under that hill. Did you know you can have a sun like that, as big as you’ve ever seen, throw itself up from below to hit some sky, but not heat up the air? There’s still snow on the ground, it sticks to our field, it’s melted elsewhere but not out there, out there where I could hear the coyotes, chattering up a storm.
